1. Tower Mast

Function: Support the main vertical structure of the whole crane and determine the height of the crane.

Composition: It is made of standard sections (standard height modules) connected by high-strength bolts or sleeves, and can be heightened section by section according to construction requirements.

Type: Divided into fixed type (consolidated with the foundation) and attached type (connected to the building by an attached wall device).

 

2. Crane Arm (Jib)

Function: The main working arm that extends horizontally for lifting materials.

Peculiarity:

Hammerhead design: the crane arm and the balance arm are fixed at the top of the tower, the top of the tower does not rotate, and only the boom is driven by the slewing mechanism.

Non-balance arm side: Usually a fixed length, where the hook moves.

3. Counter Jib

Function: Balance the load of the boom to ensure the stability of the crane.

Compose:

Counterweight: Concrete or cast iron block, the weight is calculated to match the maximum lifting capacity.

4. Slewing Unit

Function: Drive the boom and balance arm to rotate horizontally (usually 360° unrestricted rotation).

Slewing Ring: Large bearing connects the top of the tower to the boom.

Motor and reducer: provide slewing power.

 

5. Apex  OR Cat Head

Function: Connect the crane arm, balance arm and tower body to support the slewing mechanism.

Hammer head features: The top of the tower is fixed, and the boom rotates to form a "hammer" appearance.

 

6. Hoisting System

Function: Control the lifting of the hook.

Compose:

Winches: provide power, wind wire ropes.

Wire rope and pulley block: transmits power to the hook.

7. Operator's Cab

Location: Usually located under the boom or on the side of the tower, providing a panoramic view.

Function: The operator controls the operation of the crane and is equipped with electronic monitoring systems (e.g. load limiter, amplitude indicator).

 

8. Base/Foundation

Function: Transfer the crane load to the ground.

Type:

Fixed foundation: concrete block embedded anchor bolts.

Mobile foundations: rare, requires special design.

 

9. Safety Devices

10. Attachment system (optional, for high-rise buildings)
